We know that our guests love to come here to see the natural beauty of the park, but there’s so much more to see and do. Here are a few of the many activities and events coming up in the next few weeks at Starved Rock Lodge.
July Tribute to the Stars Show
July 18 (tickets available) & July 19 (Sold Out)
Mike and Lisa Templeton lead their nine children to produce a toe-tapping, hand clapping, Bluegrass and Gospel music show. Their songs are upbeat, catchy and fun for all. Every family member contributes in some way. So come on down, sit a spell and listen, or dust off your boots and dance along. This talented family is sure to entertain! Their rich music-making is bettered only by their richness in family fun. Reservations required.

Start with a delicious hot lunch in the Lodge’s Main Dining Room. Next, board one of our trolleys for a ride through historic downtown Utica and stop at Cattails where you can shop. Your trolley will then take you on a relaxing ride to LaSalle where you will board the canal boat. Step back in time with period-dressed interpreters on this 1-hour mule-pulled canal boat ride. After the boat ride you will visit Starved Rock Visitor Center. There is minimal walking on this tour. Reservations required. Note: Late arrivals will not be refunded.

Enjoy an afternoon of art, live music and wine tasting at Starved Rock Lodge’s annual art show & sale. Artists representing the Illinois Valley and beyond will share their work as you stroll the beautiful setting of Fox Ridge, just steps away from the Lodge. Many artists will be creating work during the show and items will be available for purchase. For more information call (815) 220-7386. To participate in the show: Booth space is $20.00 for a 10’x10′ area.
Take a Hike & Lunch
Saturdays & Sundays @ 11am

Group departs from the hotel lobby of the Lodge with a knowledgeable guide to see canyons and bluffs made from St. Peter’s Sandstone. The guide describes to the group how Starved Rock got its name along with other tales and truths. The hike is considered strenuous as there are many stairs and uneven terrain. Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. Hikes are about 4.5 miles round trip. Lunch includes: your choice of turkey, ham or veggie wrap, bag of chips, homemade granola bar, piece of fruit and a bottle of water. Advanced reservations are required as space is limited. Note: Late arrivals will not be refunded.
Saturdays @ 9:30am & 11am $41 per person
Enjoy our most popular tour and see Starved Rock from the water! You can really see how big the ROCK is when you see it from this perspective. Plus, you’ll see the wildlife living on Plum Island (egrets, cranes, migratory birds such as pelicans and more). Tour includes a hot lunch in our rustic Dining Room, a historic trolley ride and a leisurely 50-minute Illinois River cruise on the Belle of the Rock, an authentic paddlewheel boat. There is minimal walking involved on this tour. Note: Late arrivals will not be refunded.
7:00pm-9:00pm Join us on the Starved Rock Lodge Veranda for this one night event! Winner will go on to compete at the state finals. Grill opens at 5pm and competition starts at 7pm.
Historic Trolley Tour
Monday thru Saturday @ 3pm
Sunday @ 12pm, 1:30pm & 3pm
Adults: $12, Seniors: $10, Children 10 & under: $8
Board a trolley outside of the Great Hall of the Lodge. Learn about the rich history and legends of Starved Rock State Park and Lodge. Travel to the Lock and Dam, through historic downtown Utica and the Starved Rock Visitor Center. Reservations are recommended. Note: Late arrivals will not be refunded.
July 17 & 31, August 7 & 21 $25 per person
Spend an exciting day solving devious clues each step of the way and get to know the Starved Rock Lodge area a little more. Use your wits, energy and sense of adventure as you race against time and your fellow racers. The Amazing Race is fantastic for families, but children under the age of 8 and guests with limited mobility may find this event too strenuous. Teams should consist of 2-4 people and at least one person must have a valid driver’s license and their own transportation as driving is involved. Check in for the race will be at 11:15 am in the Lodge Lobby. Race start time is 11:30 am. Note: Late arrivals will not be refunded.
July 6-August 22
Educational programs for children and adults. Topics vary each week and start at 3pmin Fox Ridge which is located right across from the Great Hall of the Lodge. These events are open to public and free. Donations are welcome. In the event of inclement weather the event will be cancelled.
Dinner & Evening Cruise
Mondays & Thursdays @ 5pm $40 per person
Join us for a cruise aboard Belle of the Rock. This tour is offered every Monday & Thursday evening from June-September. Tour includes a Trolley Shuttle to and from the boat. The boat ride is a relaxing, scenic hour-and-a-half cruise on the Belle of the Rock paddlewheel boat. The tour concludes with dinner from our special dinner menu with dessert. Note: Late arrivals will not be refunded.
