Mayor John Noak Presents the
Annual State of the Village
On Thursday, March 6, 2014, Romeoville Mayor John Noak presented the 24th Annual State of the Village address hosted by the Romeoville Chamber of Commerce. Over 400 business leaders, elected officials, and citizens attended the address at Lewis University’s JFK Sports Center.
Mayor Noak presented an overview of 2013 and previewed exciting projects on the horizon for 2014. “Romeoville has become one of the leading communities in Illinois, attracting 85 new businesses, which provided more than 1,500 additional jobs in the last year,” said Mayor Noak.
Following are some highlights from 2013:
* Completed Murphy Park and opened the new Le’Roy “Del” Burns Memorial
* Completed almost $2 million in street improvements
* Renovated Village Park
* The Uptown Square Revitalization project continued to be a top priority by
constructing the Athletic and Events Center and approving the first two
retail outlot developments including Franconi’s Grocery store and Fat
Mayor Noak also highlighted new commercial projects coming in 2014, such as Goodwill, TJ Maxx, Chipolte, Dunkin Donuts and Sleepy’s.
Mayor Noak mentioned several new industrial projects for 2014, including: Ryan Companies who will be constructing a warehouse for Ashley Furniture which includes a 60,000 square foot retail facility. This will be Romeoville’s first retail furniture store.
“I am proud of what we have accomplished in 2013. We are fortunate to have a group of dedicated professionals that work hard to attract quality developments. Romeoville has come a long way in the last few years. I am excited and optimistic about our future opportunities,” said Mayor Noak.
